It’s Not The Gas

Can anyone explain why it is so expensive to travel to West Africa with Air France. The price to USA from France cost les then 1/3 of the price to West Africa. The distance are similar. I can take an other company and get the ticket via an other country to the same destination for less than å¸ the price of Air France, and they dont have the high standard on the aircraft, compair to the price. Look arond befor you buy the ticket.

Don’t Go To Alden Hotel (the old Sam Houston Hotel)

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Alden Hotel (the old Sam Houston Hotel)-Downtown 1117 Prarie St. TX, 7700

I worked there for about half a year and can honestly say I have never smelled a palce worse than the Hotel Alden. The rates are about $259 per night and they advertise as a “boutique” hotel. Unfortunately for them, a
homeless outreach center was built less than a block away so there are homeless people walking around the building 24/7. I never did go into one of the rooms so I can’t describe the quality of the furniture, carpet, or the sheets. I know Houston isn’t a travel destination but to my fellow Houstonians who may want to spend a weekend in downtown in a classy hotel, please save your money and more importantly your sense of smell. Trust me, that place reeks of sewage.

New Bern NC Go There

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

I would like to know if Mr. Greenberg has ever visited New Bern NC or just used Mr. Dove’s comments about the Neuse River. Just a few short years ago Matt Lauer named New Bern as one of the three best retirement communities in America. You actually might want to visit a place or at least talk to more than one person.

Tom Ballance Resident who lives on the Neuse River. You should really come and visit.

Stay Away From Kabwe, Zambia

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Lead from the old mine seeps up through the soil and into the atmosphere, clogging the air and infecting people with heavy metal toxins. Open quarries and scrap metal litter the ground. This environment is most a problem of children, as longtime exposure leads to dire results. Their lead count ranges from 60 to 120 micrograms, and can even go up to 300 micrograms. The highest accepted value is 10.

Don’t Go To Kamilo Beach or Kahuku Beach, Hawaii

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

What’s your expectancy of a beach? Sun? Surf? Sand? How about miles and miles of plastic? The shore of Kamilo Beach, located on Hawaii’s Big Island, actually has a new type of sand with plastic grains embedded into the rest. This collects at the surface of the beach and makes it very hard to have a pleasant time walking on it.

On Kahuku Beach in Honolulu, trash continually washes up on shore. Nets, tires, buoys, all sorts of debris washes up here. The golf balls in the sand can’t be easy on the feet either. Don’t go there.

Don’t go to Hanover, New Hampshire!

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Hanover, New Hampshire! Twice I have hiked the famed Appalachian Trail on behalf of charitable causes; Florida’s abandoned children and most recently, the American father. Because the Appalachian Trail goes right through Hanover (and the grounds of Dartmouth University), I have to resupply and hopefully, find some rest and a warm shower - especially after hiking several hundred miles of wilderness mountains. The town of Hanover has a citywide policy of NOT accepting hikers from the A.T. at dorms or public grounds; despite Dartmouth University being one of the most famous “outing” clubs in America. They love hikers spending their money in all the local shops and food stores - just don’t stay there! Ughhh…

Don’t Go There - The Breakers in Palm Beach Florida

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

This gentleman got snubbed at the Breakers…well he is kind of scruffy looking….not sure I’d want him around my classy hotel either. Oh, and he works for us. My wife thought this place sounded great.

A bad experience with the breakers? Not what their promotional video portrays:
