To peter greenberg,

you must be wrong in Pasay City. perhaps your lady friends had brought you to other place and not in Pasay. You must know and for your information, crime is less happening in Pasay City compared to nearby city and perhaps to where you came, your country!

We had the same experience with El Cid-and Crise Line . We purchased a membership a few years ago. We exchanged points for Hawaii the first year but RCI had no record of it. It cost a plenty. We went back to El Cid the next year and spent 1 cold week- no heat. They gave us a wrist band which identified us as a target for the sales staff (again) Talked to us and we bought another vacation week for $5000. We decided to cancel the addtional membership within the 3 day period. I took a written cancellation letter to Fernando Alonso and handed it to him personally. I had to ask for a copy. He brought it to me. I asked for his signature which I could tell by his expression that he was angry although polite. El Cide was nothing more than a hotel- I could not see any benefits of being a member during our stay. Now that should have been the end of it. Fernando Alonso stated that they did not make the credit card charges-several weeks later CitiBank sided with us and refunded our deposit. Fernando Alonso called and apologized (the signed paper I sent to Citibank was the clincher). Fernando Alonso then offered to sell the addtional week for 1/2 as much which we politely declined. We still have the membership for the one week and its a bear to use it.

Wow. Things haven't changed much at The Allerton. Stayed there on our honeymoon in 1988. We roasted in our room with no a/c. no screen in the window meant lots of pidgeon friends for visitors. Elevators didn't work then either. Thought that place would have been demolished by now.

I purchased a vacation membership from El Cid this past summer and unfortunatly I did not see these complaints first. I was just thinking about trying to book a vaction this summer and when I googled the El Cid name all these complaints came up under their site. Help, how do I get out of my contract??? Any advice in what my next step should be would be greatly appreciated.

We too bought into the El Cid Vacation Plan when visiting ashore from our Cruise, we were just looking for a map on shore and stumbled upon their booth. Despite everything, we have throughly enjoyed our plan so far staying at the El Cid Resort in Cozmel, we then paid an extra $150 and stayed in Canada and had a wonderful time there, it was about 80 miles from Niagra Falls. The next year we paid an extra $150 and stayed a week in Kaui, again it was a wonderful time. Last year we went to Branson, Mo. and had a lovely time. Although we felt sickened by all the bad publicity about El Cid, once we have learned how to use the program, we have not been disappointed with the facilities. The down payment was the one bad thing when you consider you can usually get a week anywhere for what our annual fees are. We could have bought alot of vacations with the downpayment! I must admit though, if we had to do it all over again, we would not buy into a vacation plan. We are just trying to make the best of our situation with the hasty decision we made.
